The Living Museum at Fierman with: John Tursi, Frank Boccio, Nyla Isaac, Rob Chin, Paula Brooks, and More

Cofounded over 40 years ago by psychologist Dr. János Marton, a winner of the Dr. Guislain “Breaking the Chains of Stigma” Award for his “extraordinary efforts and distinctive ability to nurture creativity of individuals living with mental illness and for establishing a groundbreaking and flourishing artistic community within a mental health care setting,” The Living Museum is an oasis of unbridled creativity. Dozens of patients and former patients of Creedmoor Psychiatric Center work there regularly creating art in a wide range of media and styles.

On view through March 2 at Fierman on the Lower East Side is a delightful group exhibition of works by Living Museum artists. The untitled geometric image featured above was fashioned with ink on paper in 2019 by the wondrously inventive John Tursi.
